Alex Smith to remain Chiefs' starter in 2017

Kansas City Chiefs general manager John Dorsey reiterated to the media Thursday that quarterback Alex Smith will remain the team's starter in 2017. (Pete Sweeney on Twitter)

Fantasy Impact:

It appears that Smith will remain Kansas City's starting quarterback next season, as both general manager John Dorsey and head coach Andy Reid reinforced in the early portion of the offseason. However, Smith's job is far from safe despite leading the Chiefs to the playoffs in three of the past four seasons. With passing numbers that are underwhelming -- he produced a 3,502-15-8 quarterback stat line in 2016 -- Smith could be on thin ice in Kansas City, especially with Nick Foles waiting in the wings for his shot at the starting job.
