Alshon Jeffery aiming to receive a long-term deal this offseason

ESPN's Jeff Dickerson believes Chicago Bears wide receiver Alshon Jeffery is "going to get paid" this offseason, but "it’s just a matter of by whom." (ESPN)
Fantasy Impact:
Dickerson hit the nail on the head. I believe Jeffery will get paid this offseason as well. However, it may not be by Chicago. The 27-year-old wideout and the team could not come to terms on a long-term agreement last offseason -- he played 2016 under the franchise tag -- and they may run into the same problem again when it comes time for the two sides to sit down and attempt to hammer out a new deal. It was reported last summer that Bears brass does not view Jeffery as a true No. 1 wide receiver -- they see him as more of a "1a or an elite No. 2." Therefore, they will not pay him like one. If a similar scenario occurs this time around, look for Chicago to place the franchise tag, which is worth $17.5 million, on Jeffery, but the wideout could ultimately threaten to hold out for a long-term deal if the team indeed tenders him again.
