Adrian Peterson not expected to have 'robust market'

Jason La Canfora of CBS Sports does not expect Minnesota Vikings running back Adrian Peterson to have a "robust market" if he becomes available this offseason. La Canfora also does not expect Peterson to receive any "significant guaranteed money" from potential suitors. (CBS Sports)

Fantasy Impact:

I share La Canfora's sentiments. Peterson, who will be 32-yeras-old by the time the 2017 season begins, does not garner the per year salary that he once received in his prime. Now on the wrong side of 30, Peterson will likely receive an incentive based deal with very little, if any, guaranteed money involved if he reaches the open market. Even in the three games that Peterson played in last season, he was not very effective. He only gained 72 yards on 37 carries and failed to find the end zone. Perhaps behind a solid offensive line and in a reduced role, Peterson could be productive. However, he will have to be playing on the right team in the right situation for that to occur. Although Peterson has recently shown interest in playing for the Giants, they have bigger needs to address this offseason. Possibly the Patriots could make a run for Peterson's services. They are notorious for signing veteran players who are at the end of their career and putting them in situations where they can succeed. New England may be in the market for a running back if they lose LeGarrette Blount in free agency.
