Kirk Cousins 'not going anywhere'

NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reports the Washington Redskins "have decided" that they will not trade quarterback Kirk Cousins this offseason. "He's not going anywhere," Rapoport said via NFL Network's Total Access. (NFL.com)

Fantasy Impact:

Now that the Redskins have placed the franchise tag on Cousins for the second straight offseason, the team has also reportedly "decided" that they will not trade their franchise signal caller. For the entire early portion of the offseason, rumors swirled that Cousins could be traded to the 49ers. However, in the wake of Rapoport's latest report, that is not going to happen. Although this could be a smokescreen to drive up his asking price, the Redskins could ultimately roll the dice and allow Cousins to play out the 2017 campaign under the tender if a long-term deal is not reached by the July 15 deadline. In that scenario, Washington would risk losing Cousins next offseason in free agency as tagging him for a third time would be a financial debacle. His third tender will be worth close to $35 million in guaranteed money.
