Geno Smith could be sidelined through September

New York Jets quarterback Geno Smith (knee) told the media he "feels great" and that he "should be ready for training camp." However, ESPN's Rich Cimini believes there are "concerns" that the impending free agent signal caller "could be sidelined until September." (ESPN)

Fantasy Impact:

Smith, who blew out his ACL in Week 7 of the 2016 regular season, could be on the mend well into the offseason. If his knee is worse off than expected, it could deter teams, including the Jets, from signing him sooner rather than later until there is a better grasp on his recovery timetable. Smith could linger unsigned on the open market as a result.
