Ameer Abdullah 'cleared' from in-season surgery

ESPN's Michael Rothstein is reporting Detroit Lions running back Ameer Abdullah (foot) is "fully cleared" from in-season foot surgery. (ESPN)

Fantasy Impact:

Abdullah's 2016 season ended after only two games when he tore a ligament in his foot in Week 2 -- he finished the year with 18 carries for 101 yards as a runner while catching five targets for 57 yards as a receiver. Now that he is medically cleared by doctors, Abdullah is expected to be a full-go for all of Detroit's offseason workouts. Barring a drastic change in personnel, Abdullah is on track to open the 2017 campaign as the Lions' starting running back with Theo Riddick assuming his role as the team's primary receiver out of the backfield.
