Mike Glennon could land with 49ers

by Anthony Cervino | Mon, Mar 6th 10:44am EST

ESPN's Jenna Laine believes the San Francisco 49ers are a "possible destination" for Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback Mike Glennon. "There's interest there, dating back to last season," Laine said via ESPN Monday. (ESPN)

Fantasy Impact:

Although the Bears and Jets are considered the likeliest of destinations for Glennon, with Chicago being the lead, Laine believes the 49ers are in play as well. Since Colin Kaepernick opted out of his contract last week, the 49ers no longer have a signal caller under contract. Kaepernick was the last. With rumors of a possible Kirk Cousins trade to San Francisco picking up traction and then fading just as fast, the quarterback situation in the Bay Area remains up in the air. If Cousins remains in Washington and he does not sign a long-term deal, he will be in line to finally reach the open market next offseason. The 49ers could ultimately take a chance in the aforementioned scenario happening and sign a bridge quarterback, in the likes of Matt Schaub or Brian Hoyer who are both free agents, to get them through 2017.
