Shane Vereen 'part' of Giants 2017 plans

by Anthony Cervino | Mon, Mar 13th 5:39pm EDT

NFL Network's Kim Jones is reporting New York Giants running back Shane Vereen is "part" of the team's plans for 2017. They will pay him his $500k roster bonus by Monday's deadline. (Kim Jones on Twitter)

Fantasy Impact:

Vereen, who missed most of the 2016 season with a triceps injury, will return to the Giants next season. While only appearing in five games in 2016, Vereen only accumulated 31 rushing attempts for 158 yards and a touchdown as a rusher and caught 11 targets for 94 yards as a receiver. With Rashad Jennings unlikely to be re-signed -- the Giants released him earlier in the offseason -- New York's backfield is shaping up to be a Paul Perkins and Vereen one-two punch. However, it is still early in the offseason and the draft has not even happened yet. New York can still make additions to their running back personnel to bolster their rushing attack before the start of the 2017 campaign.
