New York Jets 'unlikely' to sign another veteran signal caller

by Anthony Cervino | Jets Correspondent | Sat, Mar 25th 3:58pm EDT

New York Jets general manager Mike Maccagnan told the media that it's "highly unlikely" the team adds another veteran quarterback this offseason, but would not "rule out" selecting one in April's draft. (ESPN)

Fantasy Impact:

If the Jets do not add another veteran quarterback this offseason, Josh McCown will likely enter the 2017 season as the starter. However, ESPN's Rich Cimini believes impending sophomore Christian Hackenberg will at least "get a chance to compete (with McCown) for the (starting) job" in training camp. Even if McCown emerges as the Week 1 starter, and he's fully expected to, Hackenberg will likely see the field at some point during the season, especially if the Jets are mathematically eliminated from playoff contention.
