Ted Ginn expected to play 'flanker' on Saints

New Orleans Saints head coach Sean Payton told the media he has a "crystal-clear vision" on how to utilize newly signed wide receiver Ted Ginn on the offense in 2017. “I see him playing at flanker," Payton said via ESPN. "I see him being a guy that can take the top off the coverage. I like what this guy does." (ESPN)

Fantasy Impact:

Ginn, who signed with the Saints at the beginning of free agency, is expected to have a featured role on the offense in 2017. He'll likely play a similar role that recently departed wide receiver, Brandin Cooks played on the team during his tenure with the Saints. Although Michael Thomas and Willie Snead will likely enter 2017 as the top two wideouts on New Orleans' depth chart, Ginn could be the mainstay at the No. 3 spot, assuming he beats out the underwhelming Brandon Coleman this offseason. In the past two seasons with the Panthers, Ginn compiled a 98-1,491-14 stat line while playing in their run-first offense. However, Ginn could be in line for a career year in Sean Payton's pass-happy system.
