Damien Williams visits with Patriots

by Anthony Cervino | Thu, Apr 13th 8:33am EDT

ESPN's Field Yates is reporting free agent running back Damien Williams visited with the New England Patriots on Wednesday. (Field Yates on Twitter)

Fantasy Impact:

The Patriots were busy Wednesday hosting a pair of original round tendered running backs, Damien Williams and Mike Gillislee, formerly of the Dolphins and Bills respectively. New England is in search of a short yardage/ goal line back with LeGarrette Blount still unsigned. The Patriots, who also hosted Adrian Peterson last week and were also mentioned in the Marshawn Lynch conversation, appear to be taking their time landing new rusher. However, all of these visits could just be a smokescreen attempt to lure Blount into signing his deal, which is reportedly lower than the contract they gave to Rex Burkhead at the start of free agency. Expect New England's running back vacancy to be filled prior to the NFL Draft that beings on April 27.
