Adrian Peterson, Saints 'closing in' on deal

NFL Network's Ian Rapoport is reporting the New Orleans Saints and free agent running back Adrian Peterson are "closing in" on a deal that will pay him at least $3 million in 2017. (Ian Rapoport on Twitter)

Rapoport added that although the deal is not done, it seems to be "moving in that direction." Peterson, 32, visited with New Orleans earlier in the month and left on uplifting terms. If Peterson signs with the Saints, he would likely serve as the No. 2 rusher behind Mark Ingram in 2017.
