Reuben Foster could miss rookie year

San Francisco 49ers head coach Kyle Shanahan told the media that a "worst case scenario" for linebacker Reuben Foster (shoulder) is that he could miss his entire rookie year. “The worst-case scenario is that the shoulder doesn’t heal correctly and you’ve got to do it again,” Shanahan said via KNBR radio Thursday. “And then you have to do it again, you have to get another surgery. It would be tough to play this year, and you end up having him the next year." (NFL on Fox on Twitter)

Fantasy Impact:

Foster, who is recovering from shoulder surgery, could miss his entire rookie year if he is forced to undergo a second procedure, per reports. Although doctors believe that Foster's on track in his recovery, there is always that chance he could suffer a setback, resulting in season-ending surgery. A healthy Foster could bolster a 49ers defensive unit that finished the 2016 season ranked dead last in total defense.
