Ryan Mathews expected to be released

ESPN's Adam Schefter is reporting the Philadelphia Eagles will "probably" move on from running back Ryan Mathews "once he's healthy" in the wake of the LeGarrette Blount acquisition. (Adam Schefter on Twitter)

Fantasy Impact:

Schefter shares my sentiments. Personally, I'm surprised Mathews remained on Philadelphia's payroll this far into the offseason. The 29-year-old rusher, who has struggled with staying healthy since entering the league in 2010, put together a solid season in 2016. He rushed for 661 yards and eight touchdowns while adding 13 receptions s for 115 yards and another score as a receiver out of the backfield, but only appeared in 13 games. He's only played one full 16 game slate in his seven-year career. Currently, Mathews is recovering from offseason neck surgery.
