Rob Gronkowski inks new deal

by Anthony Cervino | Tue, May 23rd 5:38pm EDT

NFL Network's Ian Rapoport is reporting the New England Patriots and tight end Rob Gronkowski have agreed to a restructured deal for the 2017 season. (Ian Rapoport on Twitter)

Fantasy Impact:

Gronkowski, who was set to earn $5.25 million in 2017, could now make "up to" $10.75 million in the wake of his reworked deal. The 28-year-old tight end could become the highest-paid player at his position if he remains healthy for a full 16-game slate and performs up to his normal standard. From a fantasy football perspective, Gronkowski should still be viewed an elite TE1 despite only appearing in eight games in 2016. However, his injury concerns are certainly an issue moving forward as he's missed 24 games since 2012.
