Carlos Hyde struggling at OTAs?

by Anthony Cervino | Thu, Jun 1st 7:59am EDT

San Francisco 49ers beat writer Grant Cohn believes running back Carlos Hyde "is the slowest and most indecisive running back on the team" at voluntary workouts. "I’m not saying he’s bad – he does have quick feet between the tackles, he can bounce inside runs to the outside and he plows through defenders," Cohn said via the Press Democrat Wednesday. "But he doesn’t seem to have the vision to succeed in Kyle Shanahan’s outside zone running scheme." (The Press Democrat)

Fantasy Impact:

In an offseason that hasn't been very kind to Hyde, the misfortunes are apparently continuing. Currently, the 25-yerar-old running back, who has struggled staying healthy health since entering the league in 2014, is now having difficulty adjusting to head coach Kyle Shanahan's outside zone running scheme. Cohn believes that Hyde is not a fit and should be traded before the start of the 2017 season, and I believe he'd benefit elsewhere as well. If Hyde does remain with the 49ers, however, he'll likely enter the upcoming season as the team's top running back, but could cede touches to Tim Hightower or rookie Joe Williams. San Francisco's backfield situation is as volatile as it gets and should be monitored leading up to fantasy draft season.
