Jeremy Maclin cut by Chiefs

NFL Network's Ian Rapoport is reporting the Kansas City Chiefs have released wide receiver Jeremy Maclin on Friday. (Ian Rapoport on Twitter)

In a surprise move, the Chiefs cut Maclin Friday after a two-year union. The 29-year-old wideout is coming off of a disappointing 2016 season in which he produced a career-low 44-536-2 stat line in 12 games and is approaching the back-end of his career. However, he is talented enough to bounce back in 2017 if he remains healthy. Maclin will likely catch on with a new club in time for training camp. In Maclin's absence, Tyreek Hill instantly becomes Kansas City's clear-cut No. 1 receiver.
