Odell Beckham Jr. to attend mandatory workouts?

by Anthony Cervino | Sat, Jun 10th 7:11am EDT

New York Giants head coach Ben McAdoo expects wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. to attend mandatory minicamp next week. "Sure, I expect everyone to be here," McAdoo said via ESPN. "I'm not spending time talking about attendance. It's minicamp. We're looking forward to everyone being here next week." (ESPN)

Fantasy Impact:

Beckham, who has skipped voluntary workouts, likely due to his contract, is expected to attend mandatory minicamp that begins next week, per McAdoo. However, Beckham's erratic behavior in the past suggests that anything is possible. Since he's playing under his rookie deal in which he has one year remaining -- the Giants exercised his fifth-year option this offseason tieing him to the club through the 2018 season -- he is only set to earn roughly $1.8 million, which is an extremely low salary for a top three receiver in the NFL. Yes, Beckham has indeed outperformed his contract, but he may not have enough leverage, if any at all, to push the team into negotiating a new deal with him before the season. I'd fully expect Beckham to be on the field for Week 1, even if he skips any mandatory workouts or training camp.
