Matt Jones to report to camp after all

Washington Redskins beat writer Ben Standig is reporting running back Matt Jones has reported to mandatory minicamp Tuesday. (Ben Standig on Twitter)

Fantasy Impact:

In a surprise turn of events, Jones has reported to Redskins mandatory minicamp after all Tuesday despite rumors all offseason that the team would likely move on from the inconsistent rusher. However, although the 24-year-old running back is still a member of the Redskins, the questions remain: How long will Jones remain with the club? And what is his role moving forward? Currently, Jones is slated behind Robert Kelley, Samaje Perine and Chris Thompson on the depth chart. I'd expect Washington to hold on to Jones through the preseason in case an injury occurs to one of the players ahead of him. But, if an injury fails to transpire and he doesn't impress, expect the Redskins to part ways with him before the start of the 2017 regular season.
