Robert Turbin expected to garner expanded role in 2017

Indianapolis Colts beat writer Zak Keefer believes running back Robert Turbin will garner an expanded role in 2017. "[A] bigger role to come [in] 2017," Keefer said via his personal Twitter account. "Count on it." (Zak Keefer on Twitter)

Fantasy Impact:

Turbin is coming off a career year in 2016. Despite only totaling 343 yards on 73 touches, the veteran rusher accumulated eight total touchdowns in 15 games last season. He averaged a score on every 9.1 touches. Although the Colts added Christine Michael in free agency and Marlon Mack via the NFL Draft while still rostering second-year rusher Josh Ferguson, Turbin is the clear cut favorite to enter the 2017 season as Frank Gore's primary backup. For fantasy football purposes, Turbin is worth a late round flier as Gore's handcuff whose upside is slowly rising. If he garners an expanded role as expected, his late round pick could pay dividends for fantasy owners as the season progresses.
