Nigel Bradham accepts deferred prosecution deal

by Mike Maher | Wed, Jul 5th 9:36am EDT

Philadelphia Eagles linebacker Nigel Bradham has accepted a deferred prosecution program in relation to his felony battery charge from last summer, according to Tim McManus of ESPN.com. This agreement keeps the case out of the courts and could result in no jail time if the conditions of the program are met. Bradham also faces a misdemeanor gun charge for a separate incident, when he brought a weapon to the Miami airport. There is a hearing in that case scheduled for July 24, according to documents obtained by McManus. (Tim McManus, ESPN.com)

Fantasy Impact:

This agreement is good news for Bradham, as it should keep him out of jail. However, he could—and likely will—still face punishment from the NFL. The league will now conduct its own review of the situation and handle discipline according to the Personal Conduct Policy. Mike Florio of ProFootballTalk.com reports that Bradham could face a six-game suspension but that the NFL has been inconsistent with its punishment the last few years, saying, "Based on the revision to the policy from 2014, Bradham faces a baseline suspension of six games. As the league proved, however, in 2016 with former Giants kicker Josh Brown, the punishment can be dropped down to as little as a single game, with no transparency or elaboration as to why the player got a pass."
