Jake Butt to play in 2017?

by Anthony Cervino | Sun, Jul 16th 9:25am EDT

Denver Broncos beat writer Jeff Legwold is reporting tight end Jake Butt (knee) will "almost certainly" open training camp on the PUP list. (ESPN)

Fantasy Impact:

Butt, who is recovering from a severe knee injury suffered in college, will likely open training camp on the PUP list. However, Broncos head coach Vance Joseph told the media the fifth round pick in April's draft, who would have had a first round draft grade according to most experts if it wasn't for his ailing knee, "likely would play sometime" during the 2017 regular season. From a fantasy football perspective, the Broncos have a gaping hole at tight end since Julius Thomas left the team in 2015. I fully expect Butt to compete for the starting job upon his eventual return. Currently, he is a late round target in fantasy's Dynasty league formats.
