Soloman Thomas eager to impress 49ers

All eyes will be on number three overall pick Soloman Thomas once training camp starts Friday. He has spent his offseason working with former all-pros Demarcus Ware, Von Miller, and Warren Sapp trying to get better because an outdated rule kept him from participating in offseason work. (49ers.com)

Fantasy Impact:

Thomas could have sneaky upside with his versatility/ability to line up anywhere on the line and rush the passer. He was one of the top pass rushers in the draft and has elite speed and strength for his size. To go along with the previously mentioned rule keeping him from practicing, the only other thing going against him is he has yet to sign his rookie deal. Thomas has some major potential to break out as a rookie due to his skill and him playing on a bottom tier team in rebuild mode needing help on the defensive front. He will have all the opportunity he can to break out depending on how long it takes him to learn the new system. Depending on your scoring system, he could have value because he is going undrafted at this point, but has potential to have eight to ten sacks. At the very least he should be looked at as a bye week fill-in for those of you who play in IDP leagues with multiple DL positions.
