Cairo Santos Hadn't Missed a Field Goal at Chiefs Camp until Saturday

Cairo Santos had successfully converted his first 30 field goal attempts before missing one on Saturday. Special teams coordinator Dave Toub had this to say about Cairo Santos performance: “He handled the elements great,” Toub said. “We could’ve easily flipped it around and kicked that way and he’d be 100% again, but we wanted him to kick into the elements and make it a little harder for him.” (Sydney Ringdahl of Chiefs.com)

Fantasy Impact:

Santos put together a solid year in 2016 hitting a career high 88.6% of his field goals, while also finishing as a top 12 kicker in fantasy for the second straight season. 2017 looks like it's going to be another productive year for Santos as he has been looking good early in camp. Special teams coach Dave Toub and Santos agree that this is about as confident as Santos has been heading into the season. The Chiefs special team coach had this to say about his kicker heading into 2017: “He’s so confident. His leg strength has improved a little bit, but he’s never going to have strength like [Justin] Tucker, not too many people do,” Toub said. “The number one thing is his confidence and his strength has gotten a little bit better.” Expect good things from Santos in 2017.
