Samaje Perine fails to impress in his first game action

Samaje Perine led the Redskin in rushing on Thursday against the Ravens, but only had 15 yards on six carries. He also failed to catch his only target and fumbled once, but was able recover it.

Fantasy Impact:

There had been a lot of buzz this offseason about Perine overtaking the starting running back position after the Redskins took him in the fourth round of the draft, but he has failed to live up to those expectations. Reports from camp are that he is struggling with ball security and pass protection and his performance showed just that. That is to be expected of a rookie at this point in his career, so it's nothing to be too concerned about. At his current ADP he is someone to avoid because he is being drafted as if he is going to be the starter, but barring an injury he will open the season as the backup. If his ADP reflects his depth chart position and drops, then he is a late round flyer with upside. But unless that happens let someone else draft him.
