Brock Osweiler the favorite to start week 1, according to LT Joe Thomas

Mary Kay Cabot, beat writer for the Cleveland Browns is reporting that Joe Thomas expects Brock Osweiler to be the starting QB for week 1. "I think they're grooming Brock to be the starter week one," said Thomas in an interview on Wednesday. (Cleveland.com)

Fantasy Impact:

Thomas said he is often consulted by head coach Hue Jackson and that they are on the same page "99 times out of 100." This would be big news if Thomas is correct, as this QB battle has been one of the most intriguing camp battles across the NFL. Osweiler was considered a distant third by most, but it appears the Browns may be leaning towards him based on his experience. Thomas indicated that he didn't think rookie DeShone Kizer would be ready by week 1. If Osweiler starts as Thomas predicts, he will be on the hot seat early, as Kizer continues to get good reviews on his progress. Kizer is an intriguing dynasty pick in rookie drafts after the "big three" of Deshaun Watson, Pat Mahomes, and Mitchell Tribusky. None of the Browns QBs are worth a look in redraft leagues, unless you play a 2QB format, in which case I'd still be looking to Kizer for upside.
