NFL Network's Ian Rapoport is reporting the Detroit Lions and quarterback Matthew Stafford have agreed to a five-year, $135 million contract extension Monday. (Ian Rapoport on Twitter)

Fantasy Impact:

In the wake of his new blockbuster deal, Stafford is the highest-paid NFL player in league history. His five-year, $135 million deal includes a $50 million signing bonus and $92 million in guaranteed money. From a fantasy perspective, Stafford hasn't missed a game since the 2010 season -- he's proven durable -- and hasn't completed less than 65.3 percent of his passes in each of the past two seasons, passing for 56 touchdowns and 23 interceptions in that time span. Entering 2017, he remains on the QB1/ QB2 border, leaning more toward the QB2 side. He is an upside pick at the start of the double digit rounds in 12 team formats and beyond.
