Rookie Justin Evans possibly securing a starting role

Rookie free safety Justin Evans received the start again vs. Arizona in Week 6. He recorded a stat line of seven total tackles but did have a "rookie" moment. He blew a coverage that led to a touchdown at one point but recovered to make a few nice plays.

Fantasy Impact:

This is a great situation for fantasy owners if the rookie can continue to secure the starting free safety position. Due to injuries in Week five, Chris Conte was moved to strong safety and Evans took over the more productive position on the Tampa Bay scheme at free safety. There are not a lot of teams using a defensive scheme that the free safety has more opportunities than a strong safety to make plays on a weekly basis. Owners should take note that Keith Tandy (hip) was inactive while T.J. Ward was active after missing some time with his own hip injury. According to reports Conte and Evans received the start and Ward rotated in. Caution should be taken heading into Week 7 as this situation could possibly change now that Ward has got his feet wet and could have been on a snap count of sorts in Week 6. Evans is definitely got an advantage to remain the starter and a complete hold at this point.
