Carlos Hyde back to top dog status in 49ers backfield

by Mark Leipold | Mon, Oct 16th 12:46pm EDT

Carlos Hyde carried 13 times for 28 yards and a pair of touchdowns in the 49ers' Week 6 loss to the Redskins. Hyde added five receptions on six targets for 47 yards.

Fantasy Impact:

Hyde proved to be pretty independent of game-script, as the 49ers trailed essentially the whole game. Hyde saw 56 snaps to Matt Breida's 17, allaying any concerns of a real timeshare. Perhaps Hyde had the "hot hand" in this game, but with all of the offseason talk about the 49ers moving on from Hyde that proved to be fluff, Shanahan's comments should be taken with a grain of salt. Hyde continues to dominate this backfield, with Week 5 seeming to be an outlier. Hyde is a high-end RB2 moving forward with potential to be an RB1 any given week. Hyde's usage in the passing game bodes well for a 49ers team that is unlikely to blow anyone out this season.
