Texans claim Andre Ellington

by Pat Lenihan | Tue, Nov 21st 6:51pm EST

The Houston Texans' claimed running back Andre Ellington off waivers after the veteran was surprisingly cut by the Arizona Cardinals.

Fantasy Impact:

This isn't a surprising move by Houston. After losing rookie RB D'Onta Foreman for the season this past Sunday to an Achilles injury, the Texans' needed to make a move to add some depth to their backfield. Ellington should immediately slot in behind starter Lamar Miller and bump fourth-year back Alfred Blue back into third-string garbage time duty. Ellington was having a good season for the Cardinals as a receiver out of the backfield averaging nine yards per catch on 33 receptions. What Ellington’s upside will be in Texans’ offense remains to be seen with Tom Savage at QB. For now Ellington should be left off rosters in PPR leagues and is not a consideration in standard leagues.
