Browns could possibly trade for Chiefs' QB Alex Smith

Browns' beat writer Mary Kay Cabot reports that the Cleveland Browns will be in the market for a veteran quarterback and could trade for Chiefs' QB Alex Smith. (www.cleveland.com)
Fantasy Impact:
The Browns are loaded with draft picks in the 2018 draft and they have the money to absorb the remainder Alex Smith's contract. Smith has one year remaining on his deal but the Chiefs have expressed their interest in trading him and handing over the starting job to Pat Mahomes. Kabot reports that Smith would be a bridge quarterback and provide veteran leadership to whichever rookie quarterback the Browns select with either their first or fourth overall pick in the draft. Nothing is official at the moment but it seems likely that Smith will be wearing a new uniform in 2018. The Browns have some talented skill players but Smith's fantasy value would likely take a hit if a trade is agreed upon between the two teams.
