DeMarcus Lawrence to see franchise tag?

by Anthony Cervino | Cowboys Correspondent | Mon, Feb 19th 5:07pm EST

Dallas Cowboys beat writer Todd Archer believes the team will use the franchise tag on DE DeMarcus Lawrence this offseason. (ESPN)

Fantasy Impact:

Although he's only played a full 16 game season twice in his career (2015 and 2017) -- he played in seven in 2014 and nine in 2016 -- the injury prone and once troubled pass rusher is expected to garner the franchise tag if the two sides cant come to terms on a long-term deal. A Pro Bowler in 2017, Lawrence is coming off of a season in which he accumulated career-highs in tackles (58), sacks (14.5 sack), forced fumbles (four) and fumble recoveries (two), finally reaching his upside. In a league in which pass rushers are hard to come by, Lawrence is poised to get paid by the Cowboys sooner rather than later. Reports are suggesting that the Cowboys will tag Lawrence with the intention to sign him to a deal at some point prior to the start of the 2018 season.
