Case Keenum to see franchise tag?

by Anthony Cervino | Texans Correspondent | Mon, Feb 19th 5:13pm EST

Minnesota Vikings beat writer Courtney Cronin believes the team will use the franchise tag on QB Case Keenum this offseason. (ESPN)

Fantasy Impact:

Although the Vikings employ three NFL starting quarterbacks, none of them are under contract in 2018. For Keenum, who won 13 total games including the playoffs last season while accumulating career-best numbers across the board, he is expected to see the franchise tag despite the fact that the Vikings have roughly $57 million in cap space and can afford to pay an impending free agent like Kirk Cousins. However, Keenum has showcased a budding rapport with Adam Thielen, Stefon Diggs, and Kyle Rudolph, almost got the team to the Super Bowl and has a skill set that is a preference of new offensive coordinator Joe DeFilippo's. Barring injury, I'd be shocked if anyone but Keenum is under center for the Vikings at the start of the 2018 campaign.
