Eric Ebron expected to be retained in 2018

by Anthony Cervino | Mon, Feb 19th 5:26pm EST

CBS Sports is reporting that the Detroit Lions are expected to retain TE Eric Ebron in 2018. (CBS Sports)

Fantasy Impact:

At the conclusion of the 2017 regular season, Lions GM Bob Quinn told the press that Ebron would be retained for 2018, the final year of his rookie deal. However, per reports, the Lions could release Ebron with minimum ramifications if they elect to move on from him prior to the March 14 start of the league new year. Recording yet another disappointing stat line last season in 16 games --53-574-4 -- which was a regression from 2016, Ebron is on a short leash in Detroit. Despite being slated to play 2018 -- if the Lions do, in fact, retain him -- on a fully guaranteed $8.25 million fifth-year club option, he should face competition for the starting job in the preseason.
