Geno Smith signs one-year deal with Chargers

by Jody Smith | Seahawks Correspondent | Mon, Apr 2nd 5:47pm EDT

Former Jets and Giants signal-caller Geno Smith signed a one-year deal across the county in Los Angeles to join the Chargers as Philip Rivers back-up quarterback. Smith, 27, has played in only five total games over the past three season and thrown just 56 passes. (Adam Schefter on twitter )

Fantasy Impact:

Smith will compete with incumbent Cardale Jones for clipboard duties behind Philip Rivers, who has started all 16 games for 12 consecutive seasons. Even if Smith manages to beat out Jones, he'll have no fantasy value playing by ironman Rivers.
