Earl Thomas will sit out all team activities

by Jody Smith | Sun, Jun 10th 6:18pm EDT

Pro Bowl Safety Earl Thomas tweeted that he would be sitting out mandatory OTAs and all team activities until his contract is resolved. Thomas is entering the final year of a five-year $44.725 million deal and stated that he'd like to end his career in Seattle but is seeking a multi-year commitment from the Seahawks, who were rumored to have been shopping the Pro Bowl safety during the offseason. Thomas is due $8.5 million in 2018, which ranks fifth among all NFL free safeties. "I want everyone especially the 12's to know that I want to remain a Seahawk for the rest of my career but I also believe that based on my production over the last 8 years that I've earned the right to have this taken care of as soon as possible," wrote Thomas. Fantasy Impact:

The Seahawks are in a rebuild a shipped off the other members of the team's famed 'Legion of Boom' and reportedly were trying to move Thomas before and during the NFL Draft. It's no surprise that Thomas is now seeking an extension at age 29, which could be his final chance to earn a lucrative, long-term deal. Don't expect this situation to be resolved anytime soon, as Thomas could hold out well into the preseason.
