Teddy Bridgewater could be on the trade block

by Jody Smith | Wed, Aug 8th 8:45pm EDT

Manish Mehta of the New York Daily News expects QB Teddy Bridgewater to see plenty of action in the Jets' preseason opener as the veteran signal-caller could be auditioning for other teams. According to Mehta, "If Darnold impresses this month, the Jets would absolutely be open to trading Bridgewater, who’s scheduled to count $6 million against the cap. My understanding is that if Darnold needs more seasoning, then the Jets would hesitate to keep and start Bridgewater in the Monday night season opener against the Lions next month." Fantasy Impact:

Bridgewater has played only one game since suffering a devastating knee injury prior to the 2016 season. A capable starting quarterback, Bridgewater has looked solid this preseason for New York but would likely need a starter to go down with a major injury to attract any serious trade inquiries.
