Josh McCown expected to open first preseason game

Andy Vasquez of NorthJersey.com anticipates that 29-year-old veteran QB Josh McCown will play the first series in the Jets' preseason opener. Vasquez says, "Expect Josh McCown to get the first series of the game, before turning the reins over to Bridgewater and then Darnold." (NorthJersey.com)
Fantasy Impact:
McCown is the presumptive favorite to start the season under center. He may not hold the job all season, though, so drafting him is a risky proposition. Outside of Superflex or 2QB leagues, there's no reason to touch McCown, and even in those leagues, it's better to lock in starters who have no competition. If you draft McCown in those leagues, I'd suggest getting Darnold, too, since neither one is expensive.
