Matt Ioannidis suffers knee injury in preseason opener

Redskins defensive lineman Matt Ioannidis injured his knee in the team’s preseason opener against New England. ESPN’s John Keim is reporting Ioannidis avoided serious injury and will be ready for Week 1. (John Keim on Twitter )

Fantasy Impact:

Ioannidis was playing well before having his leg rolled up on by an offensive lineman. He recorded three tackles and one sack of Patriots quarterback Brian Hoyer. Ioannidis played in 14 games (10 starts) in 2017, recording 27 tackles and 4.5 sacks. Entering his third season, the 2016 fifth-rounder is expected to play a key role along the defensive line in 2018.
