Ezekiel Elliott to see more time split out wide

by Jody Smith | Patriots Correspondent | Sun, Aug 12th 9:06pm EDT

Dallas Morning News staff writer David Moore wrote that the Cowboys are expected to increase running back Ezekiel Elliott's role in the passing game this season and that will include more opportunities for Elliott to split out wide and create space. "Indications are that [lack of targets] will change. He feels comfortable when the Cowboys split him out wide, as they have done at times in this camp, and believes being in space will give him the opportunity to make more explosive plays," wrote Moore. Fantasy Impact:

Elliott has been studying film of Marshall Faulk to prepare for an increased role in the passing game. The article points out that Elliott has played extensively on third downs in his first two seasons but is such an asset in pass protection that he hasn't had the opportunity to showcase his strong pass-catching ability. Elliott is a quality receiver and it only makes sense that Dallas will give him more targets as the Cowboys lost Dez Bryant and Jason Witten this offseason. An increase in receptions will only solidify Elliott's status as a top-3 selection in every format.
