Jeremy Hill leads offense in Patriots' debut

by Mark Leipold | Mon, Aug 13th 12:50pm EDT

Jeremy Hill led the ground attack for the Patriots with 51 rushing yards and a touchdown on 11 caries (three fewer than both Ralph Webb and Mike Gillislee, however) in the Patriots' preseason opener against the Washington Redskins. Hill added two receptions for 14 yards.

Fantasy Impact:

The consensus belief regarding the Patriots' backfield is that one, and only one, of Jeremy Hill and Mike Gillislee will make the roster. Hill's contract presents the more favorable situation (in favor of keeping Hill and cutting Gillislee), and his performance against the Redskins probably didn't hurt the cause. Hill's touchdown run was a nice display extra effort, spinning and reaching to just cross the plane. Whichever back makes the team could see work near the goal line, and that role has the potential to be quite lucrative.
