Ben Roethlisberger out of league's concussion protocol

by Jody Smith | Thu, Aug 16th 4:52pm EDT

After leaving the field following a scary collision with right tackle Marcus Gilbert, Ben Roethlisberger passed the baseline tests and was cleared from the concussion protocol. Roethlisberger will travel with his teammates to Green Bay, but won't play in the team's second preseason game against the Packers, as planned. He should be back on the field for the team's scheduled Saturday practice. (Pittsburgh Post-Gazette )

Fantasy Impact:

Traditionally, Roethlisberger barely plays in the preseason, usually suiting up for the third game and sitting out the other three exhibitions. After previously contemplating retirement due to concussion concerns, it was disconcerting to see Roethlisberger suffer a head injury in practice. All indications are that the 36-year-old signal-caller is fine and can still be targeted as a QB1 with top-5 upside.
