Vonn Bell and Marcus Williams starting safety tandem

Strong safety Vonn Bell and free safety Marcus Williams were the starting base defense tandem Friday night versus Arizona in the second preseason contest. Kurt Coleman sits firmly as the third safety as of now.

Fantasy Impact:

When the season is in a full swing and if Bell holds off Coleman as the main starting strong safety his IDP production will likely hold some upper tier appeal. New Orleans may run more sub packages like they did in 2017 with a lot of three safety sets setting Bell up as a type of run-stopping safety/linebacker hybrid. Over the last two season's in a mixture of snap counts on the field, Bell has managed to be one of the upper, if not the leading tackler on the New Orleans defense for IDP owners. With Kenny Vaccaro now with Tennesee, Bell may be a solid fixture on the field the entire season in 2018.
