Sony Michel's knee drain related to meniscus injury

by Jody Smith | Tue, Aug 21st 6:57pm EDT

First-round rookie running back Sony Michel has been sidelined all of training camp after undergoing a procedure on his knee in early August. The Boston Globe updated Michel's status and quoted The Athletic's Jeff Howe who tweeted "Michel’s knee drain earlier this month was due to an issue with his meniscus." There have been no updates to the status of Michel's potential return, but he's still expected to miss the entire preseason and could potentially be out "even into the start of the regular season." Fantasy Impact:

While there has been no change in Michel's status, a meniscus injury raises a lot of concerns for a player that already came with a lot of rumored knee problems prior to the NFL Draft. Rex Burkhead just recently returned and the Patriots still have James White, Jeremy Hill and Mike Gillisllee in the backfield. Michel is starting to look more and more like a risky pick in the middle rounds of fantasy drafts.
