The Atlanta Falcons have listed rookie Foyesade Oluokun as the starting middle linebacker on the latest depth chart for the contest versus the New York Giants in Week Seven. (myajc.com)

Fantasy Impact:

As noted earlier in the pre-season here at FantasyPros, Oluokun was making a strong impression until he suffered an ankle injury early in the third pre-season contest and pushing Duke Riley for playing time. And now with Riley unable to sufficiently being able to replace Deion Jones (foot), Oluokun will seemingly get his chance to anchor the Atlanta defense until Jones is eligible to return around Week Ten. This situation could have two possible scenarios if the rookie can impress head coach Dan Quinn in the meantime. One could be that if Jones can return when eligible that Oluokun could slide over to the WLB position and continue to offer IDP owners a source of weekly production. The second scenario could be that if the season is lost at that point for Atlanta and Quinn decides to rest Jones for the rest of the season, Oluokun could remain the MLB for the rest of the season. And then the rookie could offer prime IDP production heading into the fantasy playoffs. It is a situation to monitor over the next few weeks.
