Rob Gronkowski to strongly mull retirement in offseason

by Anthony Cervino | Sun, Jan 13th 9:01am EST

NFL Network's Ian Rapoport is reporting Patriots TE Rob Gronkowski will strongly mull retirement this offseason. (Ian Rapoport on Twitter)

Fantasy Impact:

Gronkowski thought about retiring last offseason and it looks like he will face a similar situation this year as well. Rapoport is stating that sources close to the Patriots tight end believe Gronkowski, who obviously played in 2018 -- how effective he was is another story -- will elect to retire this offseason. Not only did he once say that he wouldn't catch passes from another quarterback not named Tom Brady, but he also has a bright future in the entertainment field or even pro wrestling. Posting a career-low 47-682-3 stat line when appearing in at least 13 games this season, Gronkowski could be playing his final games in the NFL starting with Sunday's Divisional Round matchup with the Chargers.
