NFL Media’s Ian Rapoport reported on Twitter Friday morning that the Giants have agreed to a trade that will send veteran pass-rusher Olivier Vernon to the Browns in exchange for guard Kevin Zeitler. The Giants are also sending pick 132 (fourth round) and getting 155 back. (Ian Rapoport on Twitter )
There were reports in recent days that the Giants were shopping their veteran pass-rusher because they didn’t want to pay his hefty salary. Vernon, who is entering the third year of a five-year contract, is set to make $15.250 million in base salary and count for $19.5 million against the cap in 2019. Zeitler’s salary is $10 million. Vernon recorded seven sacks in 11 games during the 2018 season and was named to the Pro Bowl.
