Fantasy Impact:

This comes as a surprise, even after Jones was selected with the No. 6 overall pick in this year’s draft, and Eli Manning’s hold on the starting job suddenly does not seem concrete. It looks like the Giants will give Jones a real shot to earn the job in training camp. When asked about evaluating the QB talent on the roster, head coach Pat Shurmur said, “We’re going to play the very best player. We’ll see how that goes.” He also praised Jones’ offseason, noting, “He’s on track of the goal, which is to play day one.” This unexpected position battle leaves the door open for the G-Men to move on from the Eli Manning era, and it’s a storyline fantasy owners should be keenly monitoring.
