Theo Riddick released by Lions

The Detroit Lions have released running back Theo Riddick, according to a report from NFL insider Ian Rapoport. (Ian Rapoport on Twitter)

Fantasy Impact:

Riddick has proven to be one of the better pass-catching running backs in football over the last few years, so his release just a few days into training comes as a surprise. The Lions have second-year running back Kerryon Johnson and C.J. Anderson ahead of Riddick on the depth chart in addition to Zach Zenner, but Riddick is the only proven pass-catcher of the group. Johnson is already a popular mid-round pick in early drafts for this upcoming season, and the subtraction of Riddick could raise his ADP a little higher, especially in PPR leagues.
