Daniel Jones compliments Baker Mayfield in wake of criticism

When asked about Baker Mayfield's recent criticism of him, Daniel Jones said, “I think he’s a great player. He can throw it and I enjoy watching him play.” (Paul Schwartz on Twitter)

The comments come shortly after Mayfield's comments in a GQ article came to light: “I can not believe the Giants took Daniel Jones. Blows my mind. ... Some people overthink it. That's where people go wrong. They forget you've got to win.” Jones seemed poised with his answer, and after impressing in two preseason contests, Mayfield's comments may be fuel for Jones to continue to overachieve. The No. 6 pick is unlikely to start the year as the Giants' starting QB, but he may be inserted in that role before the season is over.
